EARTH’S
BURNOUT

by UN Global Compact
Earth Overshoot Day marks the date when humanity’s demand for ecological resources in a given year exceeds what Earth can regenerate in that year.

UN Global Compact is the largest corporate sustainability initiative in the world, aiming to accelerate and scale the global collective impact of business and enable change.

In order to get the attention of companies, we needed to talk business. So we turned to a common issue in the corporate world: burnout.

We reframed the debate about climate change by portraying Planet Earth as a sick worker, correlating human burnout symptoms to the consequences of human activity experienced by our planet.

With the help of a Nobel laureate scientist and a former Harvard School of Public Health’s Environmental Health Department professor, we diagnosed the planet through 8 exams drawn from research data all over the globe.
